Beauty

What is truly beautiful? Is it a flower? A model in Vogue? A New York skyline? Do I even know what true beaury is? A beauty that isn't fleating, decieving or without meaning?

I used to think that beauty meant having it all. I longed for bigger eyes, perfectly curly hair, and a flat stomach. I just wished to be like that actress on T.V. or model with what teeth. It is very easy to get caught in that mind of thinking where you are constantly comparing yourself to everyone else. That was my mind of thinking for a long time. It is a lot of people's mindset. I longed for praise and couldn't get enough compliments to make me feel beautiful.

Then I came across Proverbs 31:30 which says "Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised." Did you catch that? Physical beauty doesn't last! If you want praise, true, meaningful praise, become the woman who trusts in the Lord. Outward beauty isn't worth the investment because, as another version of this verse says, beauty is fleating. 1st Timothy 2:10 says "For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do." In order to be truly beautiful, we must keep our eyes on Christ, serving Him, and His standards of beauty.
